This is carved from Walnut, for a retired mail carrier. After carving it, we decided to cut it off at the base, put cedar boards under it (to allow air through), and bolted it to the base and cedar boards with lag bolts. This way, as the roots and base deteriorate over time, the carving is preserved.....
but will someday need to be moved to a different location.
