Leon, Iowa

Leonardo is an oversize cardinal in Leon, Iowa. He is
approx six feet from head to tail, on a base of approx
five feet. Carved from a large maple tree along Hiway 69.
The local school mascot is a cardinal, but a "mean-looking"
cardinal, and the owner didn't want that. While I usually
do not paint carvings, I certainly feel it is more justifiable
for something such as a cardinal or bluejay.
